Google is currently giving a select group of Pixel Superfans the exclusive opportunity to test its new AI service, Bard, which is aimed to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The Verge has reported that while Bard is not yet publicly available, Google is allowing a small, randomly selected group of Pixel Superfans to access it first.
Those selected will be placed on a waitlist for early access once they have signed up, but Google has made it clear that it is just a small group of people. The tech giant has sent out an email to users, which reads, “Meet Bard, an early experiment by Google that lets you collaborate with generative AI. We’d like to offer you– a member of our Pixel Superfan community– early access so you can get started as soon as Bard launches, and share your feedback.”
Bard is described by Google as an “experimental conversational AI service” that utilizes Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA) to power its capabilities. The tool’s main goal is to merge the world’s knowledge with the creativity and intelligence of large language models. Additionally, it employs data from the web to deliver high-quality and fresh responses.
Google announced Bard last month as an AI service that would take on ChatGPT, and the company has since made it available to “trusted testers.”
