Today we’re talking about the upcoming Intel 14th Gen Meteor Lake CPUs. According to a credible leaker, these chips are targeting some big improvements in performance and efficiency.
The 14th Gen Meteor Lake CPUs will feature a hybrid x86 core architecture and will make use of multiple chiplets that are fused together. Intel is targeting a performance per watt increase of over 50% versus the previous generation. This is a significant improvement, especially when compared to the 25% increase we saw with AMD’s Zen 4 architecture last year.
In addition to the CPU performance boost, the Meteor Lake CPUs are also expected to see a 2x improvement in GPU performance thanks to the new tGPU or Tiled-GPU architecture, which will feature new Xe GPU cores.
The new Meteor Lake CPUs will utilize a tiled Arc graphics-powered GPU and will utilize the brand-new Xe-HPG graphics architecture, offering enhanced support for DirectX 12 Ultimate and XeSS.
Intel has confirmed that the Meteor Lake CPUs will feature a brand new tiled architecture and will be using 4 main tiles – IO Tile, SOC Tile, GFX Tile, and Compute Tile. The Compute Tile will include the CPU Tile and GFX Tile and will make use of a new hybrid core design for higher performance throughput at lower power.
