OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei’s new venture, Nothing, has been making waves ever since its launch. The company’s first smartphone, the transparent and illuminating Nothing Phone (1), was a big hit, selling over 650,000 units worldwide. Now, everyone is eagerly anticipating the successor to the Nothing Phone (1), which has officially been teased by the company and is set to arrive soon. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming Nothing Phone (2).
Design of Nothing Phone (2) The company has released official information about the design of Nothing Phone (2). As expected, the phone features a transparent rear panel like its predecessor, Nothing Phone (1). The white textured plastic covering the internals, along with the glyph light strip (not illuminated here) and the red recording indicator, are visible. The indicator on the Phone (2) has been redesigned, no longer circular like the one on the Phone (1).
Other design elements for the upcoming phone are not visible here, but we can make an educated guess. The “Glyph” lights will once again prove to be a standout element of this phone. The glyph lights will be white like before, but the company may change their placement on the rear. As for the front, we will still have a symmetrical bezel around the display. Will people draw parallels to the iPhone with the Phone (2), or will the design see major changes? Only time will tell, so stay tuned for more leaks and rumors.
Specifications of Nothing Phone (2) One thing is for sure, the next Nothing phone will be more powerful than its initial release. The company has already confirmed that the Phone (2) will feature a flagship Snapdragon 8-series chipset. At MWC 2023, it was announced that the Phone (2) will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The Phone (2) will also include at least 12GB of RAM along with a virtual RAM feature, much like popular Xiaomi, Samsung, or Realme phones these days. It will come with 256GB of onboard storage and a 5,000mAh battery, bigger than the Phone 1’s 4,500mAh battery. The Phone (2) will also feature an adaptive AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The bezels around the display will likely be the same size as its predecessor. One of the biggest upgrades on Phone (2) will come on the software front. After the launch of Phone (1), the London-based company set up an in-house software team, aiming to deliver an elevated stock Android experience. So, it will be exciting to see what Nothing has in store for the Phone (2).
Release Date of Nothing Phone (2) The company has officially announced that the Nothing Phone (2) will be released in Summer 2023, and Flipkart will once again be the exclusive seller in India. The exact launch date has not yet been confirmed, but it is expected to be set sometime around late June or July, considering that Summer 2023 spans from June to September. There is a possibility that the more premium Nothing Phone (2) could launch on July 12 – exactly one year after the launch of the Phone (1).
Nothing Phone (2) is a highly anticipated smartphone, and with its upgraded specifications and design, it will be interesting to see how it competes with other leading smartphones. The Phone (2) is expected to take the market by storm, much like its predecessor, the Nothing Phone (1). Keep an eye on this space for more updates and leaks on the upcoming Nothing Phone (2).
