Newly leaked CAD renders of Apple’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the iPhone 15 Pro, have provided a glimpse of what users can expect from the device. Among the most significant changes are the adoption of Taptic buttons and a solid-state mute switch, both of which will replace the physical buttons found on older models.

The Taptic buttons, which were missing from earlier leaks, will be pressure-sensitive and recognise volume up and down presses without moving. This design will allow for faster volume adjustment, particularly if iOS can adjust volume levels based on the pressure applied. It remains unclear whether the buttons will provide haptic feedback, similar to Apple’s Force Touch trackpads.

The mute switch will retain its positioning, but it will be replaced by a solid-state button. This change will be exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, as the regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are expected to maintain Apple’s existing physical mute switch.
The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will also feature Taptic lock buttons, which will be pressure-sensitive and exclusive to these models. However, the integration of these buttons remains unknown at this time.
Overall, these new features represent a significant change for the iPhone series and may offer improved functionality for users. The iPhone 15 Pro is expected to launch in September, so users can look forward to experiencing these changes firsthand.
